This custom edition (362 pages, spiral bound) provides an introduction to Asymetrix ToolBook II Instructor and Assistant 7. The textbook takes a modular approach in presenting ToolBook II Instructor and Assistant. The book is written primarily for ToolBook II Instructor 7, but is set up so that it can also be used with ToolBook II Assistant 7. This latest in a series of books by the author includes a module with twelve new lessons not included in earlier versions. This new release also includes a Special Topics module with twenty lessons. The Basic ToolBook Lessons module has also been expanded to sixteen lessons.
Module 1 gives a brief introduction to multimedia and a comprehensive look at ToolBook II with emphasis on the latest releases from Asymetrix, ToolBook II Instructor 7 and Assistant 7. This module provides a look at TooBook IIs Author level tools including the Tool Bar, Tool Palette, and the Catalog. It also provides a good look at ToolBook concepts, properties of objects, and an introduction to working with the various ToolBook objects. Short lessons are designed to get you familiar with ToolBook II. Module I also provides an introduction to the Object Browser, Page Browser, Property Browser, Templates, and the Coach. Module 2 provides an overview of the various installed components in this version of ToolBook including the Resource Center and the ToolBook II Utilities. Module 3 provides an overview of the various tabs of the Startup Dialog box. Module 4 provides an insight into how to add the various multimedia components to a ToolBook II application. Short lessons are provided to show you how to add the various multimedia components including audio, video, graphics, backdrops, and animation. Module 5 provides sixteen basic lessons to get you acquainted with ToolBook including an introduction to OpenScript. Module 6 (the heart of this textbook) provides comprehensive lessons on how to use the Full (formerly known as Book Specialist) Specialist options and how to create your own custom outline. Focus is placed on the following: Presentation Outline, Simple Training Outline, Quiz Book Option, and a Custom Outline. The Presentation Outline lesson includes lessons on the building of these types of applications are lessons related to working with buttons and fields, adding text, images, media clips, and clipart. The Simple Training Outline lesson includes lessons on using the audio and video clip players along with introducing you to the multiple-choice question object. The Quiz Book Option lesson shows you how to build the following questions: multiple-choice, true/false, fill-in the blank, matching, and order text. The Custom Outline lesson introduces you to hotwords, animations, graphics, and shows you how to add your own hyperlinks. Module 7 provides an overview of the Internet, the World Wide Web, Distributed Learning applications, Neuron, and WebBooks. Lessons are provided to show you how to create a Neuron application and how to write an HTML file for its display. Another lesson shows you how to create an application and convert it to HTML. Information is also provided on how to distribute these types of applications to Internet using the Web Specialist. Module 8 (a new addition for this version) contains twelve supplementary lessons for ToolBook II, focusing primarily on additional question objects from the Catalog. Short lessons also show how to set up animated GIFs for the Web. Module 9 provides an overview of AutoPackager, the utility provided with ToolBook II that makes it easy to create files for distribution to floppy disks or CD-ROM. Module 10 (Special Topics) gives an introduction to ActiveX in ToolBook. Lessons show how to use the Animated GIF Active-X control and the Microsoft Agent Control in ToolBook. Module 10 also gives an introduction to Dynamic HTML (DHTML) and provides several lessons for converting ToolBook pages to DHTML. This module also includes sections on using Popup Video Player, Video Synchronizer, Panoramas in ToolBook II, Flash, the RealSystsem G2 object, Bookmarking, writing to an INI file, and the Actions Editor. An Online Resource Center (access to files on the World Wide Web) accompanies this textbook.
