Finished Pages in Simulation with Show Me Optional Storyboard The following screens show what a Storyboard would look like after each Page Type has been filled in by the Writer. Title This will always be Screen 1 of this type of lesson. The Writer types their Name, the Lesson Name, and the introductory text. Text can be bolded text using the Format Text, Bold Other Text option from the Menu Bar. In the finished book, the Caption of the Window will contain the Lesson Name and there will be one text field with the text:
Task Outline Most all Simulation lessons will have this as Screen 3. Here the Writer outlines the steps needed to perform the task. Popup text is entered that describes in some detail what needs to be done to perform each step. This is not intended to be used to provide a complete outline with every single step and action. The popup text can be whatever the Writer deems as appropriate for each general step identified. Up to 8 general steps can be identified. If the Writer needs more than this, then an additional page of this type can be added. Text can be bolded text using the Format Text, Bold Other Text option from the Menu Bar. The Note to TB Dev is used to provide specific instructions to the ToolBook Developer if anything special needs to be done on this screen. This information is not viewed in the final product, only available to the ToolBook Developer at Author level.
Content Only Screen This screen will most likely be used at the beginning of a topic to provide basic information about the task or an extended introduction. Recall that a one sentence Introductory statement is made on the Title screen. The text will appear in a single text field and can be multiple paragraphs with bolded text using the Format Text, Bold Other Text option from the Menu Bar. Notice that this Page type can have a Sticky Note and text within that note can be bolded.
Content with Graphic This screen type will also likely be used to provide additional introductory information regarding the current task. A graphic such as a partial screenshot is used along with the single text field that will be on the final screen. This Page type can also have a Sticky Note. The Note to TB Dev could be used to provide specific instructions to the ToolBook Developer such as "Highlight the Media (Icons) button using a red rounded rectangle."
Topic Mode Selection This will always be the screen at the beginning of the Simulation part of the lesson. The Writer has nothing to enter on this screen. In the finished book, the two buttons are used to take the Learner through the topic in one of two modes: Practice or Assessment. A Show Me button on each Simulation page then allows the Learner to view the Simulation in Demonstration mode.
Text Only This screen looks very similar to the Simulation screens except that there is no interaction and the text is the same for all modes. It can be used as an introductory screen or as a transitional screen between various steps in the task to be completed.
Sim A This is an example of one of the more common Simulation Scenarios, Sim A. In this step, the user is to click once somewhere on the screen to advance to the next screen. The Writer obtains the screenshot, 200_930_040.gif in this instance, and enters the text for the various modes and the feedback text which is text displayed after three incorrect attempts. The text is entered in a manner similar to that show in the examples which is a pre-approved format for the current Simulation Scenario. The writer also enters a User Action and System Response so that the ToolBook Developer has a clear idea of what is going on so that the page (screen) can be set up properly once it is built. If a Sticky Note is required, that text is entered. Also the Writer adds any note that they feel is necessary to convey information to the ToolBook Developer. Bold tags, such as Catalog are added using the Format Text menu options.
Text Only Summary Screen This screen will always be the end of a series of Simulation screens where a series of steps have been performed. The graphic will show the end result of those steps. The text for the modes is the same except that congratulatory text such as Great! is displayed for Assessment mode.
Score Screen This will always be the next to last screen in the Simulation Storyboard. The Writer for the most part enters the same text here that they have entered on the Title screen. In the finished book, there will be generic text for Practice Mode and the Assessment Mode text will be generic except for the text entered in the field as shown here. This text cannot be bolded. In this case the text on this page in the finished book will look like this:
Popup Screen This will serve as a Help page and can be used to provide the same Steps identified on the Task Outline screen or any other help information that might be appropriate for any given topic. Text can be formatted as desired using the Format Text, Bold Other Text option from the Menu Bar. This will always be the last screen in the Storyboard.
