There are several basic requirements for the ToolBook DHTML content to run on your computer. These are listed below. The table to the right shows the specifics and the results of the check of your computer and browser.

  • A resolution set to 800X600 or higher.
     

  • IE 4.01 or higher browser. Some applications are created to run also under Netscape 7.1. Java and cookies must be enabled. IE is strongly recommended as the browser to use.
     

  • The MicroSoft Java Virtual Machine or the Sun Virtual Machine.

Note: It is now possible to have ToolBook content created to use pixel resizing, but it is still recommended that you have your Desktop set to 96 dpi.

Making Changes to your Computer and Browser

 

Cookies

 

To enable cookies:

  1. From the Internet Explorer Menu Bar, choose Tools, Internet Options.

  2. Click the Privacy tab, then click the Advanced button.

  3. Click Accept for First-party Cookies as shown here.

  4. Click OK twice to return to the browser.

 

 

 

Color Depth and Screen Resolution

 

To set the color depth to 16 bit or greater and the screen resolution to 800x600 or higher:

  1. Right-click on an open area of your Desktop and choose Properties.

  2. Click the Settings tab.

  3. Drag the small slider under Screen resolution to the left or right to raise or lower the screen resolution.

  4. Click the drop-down for Color quality and select Medium (16 bit) or Highest (32 bit).

 

Screen DPI

To set the screen dpi (dots per inch):

  1. Click the Advanced button from the Display Properties dialog box.

  2. You should see something similar to that shown below depending upon your monitor and display adapter.

  3. Choose Normal size (96 DPI).

 

JAVA Virtual Machine

To check to see information about your JAVA Virtual Machine:

  1. From the Internet Explorer Menu Bar, choose Tools, Internet Options.

  2. Click the Advanced tab, then click the Advanced button.

  3. Scroll down the list until you see Microsoft VM.

  4. Make sure JIT compiler for virtual machine enabled is checked if you are using the Microsoft Virtual Machine.

 

 

Popup Blockers

 

If you are using some sort of Popup Blocker, you must disable it, or configure it to allow popups from the site where the ToolBook DHTML content is being delivered.
