Bareboating the BVI

In recent years, I took several trips to the British Virgin Islands (BVI) where I rented and captained sailboats. This is referred to as "bareboating", where the boat has all the necessary amenities so you can live on the boat for a period of a week or more. Click the links below to see these trips. Shown above is one of the more popular stops on any sailing trip in the BVI. This is a small island known as Sandy Cay and is totally uninhabited except for those like us anchoring off the island during the day and taking a dinghy ashore for swimming, snorkeling, exploring, or having lunch. The island in the background is Tortola, the largest island in the BVI. The 2003 boat (above) was a 29.5 ft Hunter. The view here is this boat on a mooring ball at the Baths off Virgin Gorda. Below is the 38 ft Catamaran I captained the second year (2004), docked at the home marina at West End, Tortola.
